The Komo Learning Centres (KLC) was established in 2008 as a non-profit (501c3) corporation dedicated to providing community-based educational opportunities for vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Uganda.

With the third highest fertility rate in the world, Uganda’s education system is burdened with overcrowded classrooms, a scarcity of teachers and dilapidated schoolhouses. As a result, all efforts have been focused on the absolute basics with little available for children with any kind of disadvantage—AIDS orphans, children with disabilities or health problems, those too poor to pay school fees and the many who simply have no school in their vicinity.

Inspired by Noerine Kaleeba (the founder of the groundbreaking TASO Aids Support Organization), KLC was created to address these gaps in the Ugandan school system. Together with community leaders, it will endeavor to develop and implement a successful plan for enriching the lives of these children.
