Solome is 15 years old. She has not seen her mother since her father passed away. She only has bad memories of her mother. Solome has been taken in by the headmistress of the Johnson Nkosi School. Currently she is attending a rural government secondary school. There are seven children in her family. Her hope is to become a social worker or community psychologist in order to help people deal with their problems.

She needs an education grant to complete 3 years and 2 terms for her secondary education.

Stanley is 19 years old and both parents have died. He completed primary seven in 2007. All along he has struggled to pay the tuition for his secondary education and now he does not have the funds to continue his education. Stanley had three other siblings, but his sister died. He wants to become an engineer. He believes that God will help him to achieve his goals.

Rita is 19 years old. She finished her primary education at Nkosi in 2006. Her parents died and the Mpoma community has supported her since 2002. There are seven children in her family and there is no money for her to continue her education. Only Rita and her sister Solome (see above) were able to complete their primary education.

Agnes is 14 years old and lives with her mother who is a peasant farmer in Lukojjo village. Her father died while she was still in primary school at Nkosi School. She believes that a better school will help her to achieve her ambition to be a lawyer. The meager household income does not allow her access to quality education.

Agnes needs a grant for 2 years and 2 terms.

Henry is 14 years old and is an orphan. He attended and completed through primary seven at Nkosi School in 2008. Currently he is attending a government secondary school enduring severely overcrowded classes. He feels that his grades have declined as a result of this overcrowding. He is confident that he would perform better academically if he could go to a good school. There are three in Henry’s family.

He needs a grant for 2 years plus 2 terms.

Harriet Nakibuka
Harriet Nakibuka

Harriet 15 years old. Completed her primary education at Nkosi last year. She was best girl in PLE results in the whole sub county. The sub county gave her a scholarship for 4 years but she still needs funding for her uniforms, books, bedding and shoe polish. Without these items she cannot attend school. Her father is a farmer in a rural village. They currently receive nutritional support from The Healthy World Foundation.

She needs a grant for 3 years.

William Juuko
William is 15 years old and is an orphan. He completed his primary education at Nkosi in 2007. He is among the brightest students and was an excellent example to the community of the high quality education provided by the Nkosi School. He was in attending boarding school, but due to lack of funds was forced to be a day student. The walk to school is long and he often misses classes due the distance he must walk.

He needs a grant for 3 years and 2 terms.

Isaac is sixteen 16 years old. He completed primary seven in 2006 at Nkosi School and is now attending secondary education at Bishops Senoir School in Mukono. Both parents died. Isaac is a very courageous boy in terms of education because he sees it as the only alternative to meet his future expectations. Isaac is the eldest of 6 children and he feels a responsibility to help support the family. His goal is to be an accountant.

Estether is 17 years old. She completed her primary education at Nkosi School in 2006. Both parents died. She is attending a rural government school. Estether is not happy at this school because they do not nurture and develop a student’s talent. She wants to be a nurse to help her community which suffers from HIV/AIDS. Due to meager resources she is unable to go to a school that will make her future more predictable.

She needs a grant for 2 years and 2 terms.

Joseph is aged 14 years. He lives with his mother and four sisters. He graduated from the Nkosi School in 2009 with academic honors. His mother was a beadmaker but the funding project expired and they do not have the resources to send him to a good school where he knows he would discover his full potential. He hopes to complete his studies to the level of attaining a PhD. His role models are Obama and Musicians who support needy children. He trusts in God that he will get people to support him to achieve his expectations. His memories always reflect on his late father who left them when they were still young.

He needs grants for 3 years and 2 terms.
